CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 1/2 lb. butter 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 5 Tbsp. cocoa 3 c. cake flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Chocolate Frosting Cream butter, shortening and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift cocoa, cake flour, baking powder and salt together. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture, a little at a time. Stir in vanilla. Turn mixture into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. Let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool on wire rack and frost sides and top. Chocolate Frosting: 1 lb. confectioners sugar 1/2 c. butter, softened milk 1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted Cream together sugar and butter, adding only enough milk to make spreading consistency. Stir in chocolate. Use to frost chocolate pound cake.
