APPLE CIDER POUND CAKE 1 c. butter or margarine, softened 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 6 eggs 3 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground allspice 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 1 c. apple cider 1 tsp. vanilla extract Combine butter and shortening, mixing well. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with apple cider, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into a well greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 50 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes; remove cake from pan and let cool com- pletely.
