SHORTBREAD COOKIES 1/2 lb. butter 1 c. sugar 2 c. plain unsifted flour 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla Cream all ingredients together. Press on 16 x 11-inch cookie sheet. Beat egg white until stiff. Wipe over dough and press 1/2 cup of nuts on top. Bake 30 minutes or longer in 325 degrees oven. Makes about 50 small squares.
