CHEWY OATMEAL COOKIES 1 c. flour 3/4 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 3/4 c. shortening 1 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. oats 1 c. raisins Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and add to above mix- ture. Beat until smooth. Stir in oats and raisins. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
