OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 1 c. shortening 3/4 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. white sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2 c. oatmeal 1 Tbsp. hot water 1 tsp. baking soda 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips Cream shortening and sugars. Add and stir eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients which have been mixed together. Mix soda and water and add to dough. Stir in chips. Place by spoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
