BREAD PUDDING 4 c. bread (small cubes) 1/2 c. raisins 2 c. scalding water 1 stick butter 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs pinch of salt Combine bread and raisins. Add milk; let stand 15 minutes. Cook butter and brown sugar until syrupy. Mix eggs, vanilla and seasonings. Add with sugar mixture to moisten bread. Bake in greased pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Sauce: 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 Tbsp. butter 1 c. boiling water 1 tsp. vanilla Mix together brown sugar, cornstarch and butter; add boiling water. Cook, boiling until thickened. Add vanilla. Pour over servings of bread pudding.
