STELLA'S CUSTARD BREAD PUDDING 5 slices bread, broken into pieces 3 c. milk 3 eggs 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring Lump of oleo, size of small egg, melted in 1 1/2 quart casserole and oozed around. Fill casserole with bread bits. Beat milk, sugar, eggs and extracts with beater until well mixed, pour over bread bits and push down with bowl or spoon until all is well soaked. (No need to stir.) Put casserole into pan of water. Bake at 300 degrees until shake-firm. (Lid should be removed for last 10 minutes of baking.) If using thin sliced bread, add another slice. Also, use stale bread.
