BREAD PUDDING 2 c. stale bread 1 qt. milk 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. raisins (if desired) 2 eggs 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Soak the bread in milk until it is very soft, then mash it fine. Heat together until nearly boiling. Beat the eggs until light and add to them sugar, salt and vanilla. When well mixed, stir this into the bread and milk. Pour into a baking dish. Set in a pan of water and bake in a slow 250 degrees to 300 degrees oven for about 1 hour. Chocolate bread pudding: Melt two squares of chocolate over hot water and add this to the soaked bread and milk.
