HOT WATER CHOCOLATE CAKE 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 c. hot water 2 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. sugar 4 Tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. soda 1 egg 1 stick butter Mix flour, sugar, salt, cocoa and butter together. Add 1 cup hot water and beat until smooth. Mix soda and baking powder with 1/2 cup hot water. Add this mixture, egg and vanilla to batter and beat well. This makes a very thin batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until top springs back at a light touch. Boiled Icing For Hot Water Cake: 1 c. sugar 1/4 c. margarine 2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. cocoa 1/4 c. Milnot Combine everything except vanilla; mix well and set on heat. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly after it comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and beat for a couple minutes.
