ELEPHANT EARS 1 1/2 c. milk 2 Tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 6 Tbsp. Crisco 2 pkg. dry yeast 4 c. flour Sugar Mix: 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon In pan mix milk, sugar, salt, shortening, heat until shortening melts. Don't boil. Cool to lukewarm, add yeast and stir until dissolves. Add flour, 2 cups at a time. Put in greased bowl, cover with damp cloth for 30 minutes. Pinch of piece size of golf ball, flatten to thin 6 to 8-inch circle. Fry in 350 degrees oil until dough rises to surface, turn over and fry until light brown. Drain and sprinkle with sugar mix.
