OLD-FASHIONED DROP DUMPLINS

1 pt. flour
1 tsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 c. sweet milk

Mix together one pint flour, one teaspoon shortening,
1/2 teaspoon salt, one teaspoon baking powder, one egg and 1/2
cupful sweet milk. Mix ingredients as for making biscuits,
except to keep the dough soft enough to drop from spoon. Drop
by small tablespoon into the pot of cooking meat. These
dumplins will be found equally good for cooking with chicken
stew, beef stew or other meats and for greens and vegetables.
Cook only 20 minutes. Do not stir and they will be nice and
light.
