COUNTRY STYLE STEAK USING SLOW COOKER 2 lb. cube steak 2 or 4 cans beef or mushroom gravy onion (optional) Flour steak on both sides. Salt and pepper to taste. Brown steak in frying pan with 3 tablespoonfuls of shortening. After steak is well brown on both sides, place in slow cooker, adding the beef or mushroom gravy. Cook 4 to 5 hours on high or 6 to 8 hours on low. If you prefer, slice onion (2 medium sized) and add to steak and gravy last 2 or 3 hours of cooking.
