HAWAIIAN HAMBURGERS 2 lb. ground beef 1/2 c. soy sauce 1 Tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt dash of pepper 1 tsp. ginger 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 can bean sprouts, drained 3 green onions, chopped fine 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped Combine meat with 1/2 cup soy sauce, sugar and salt. Add pepper, ginger and garlic. Mix until well blended. Shape into 12 large thin patties. Combine beat sprouts, water chestnuts and onions. Spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of this mix over 6 patties. Cover with other 6 patties. Pinch edges together. Brush with remaining soy sauce. Broil 3 to 4 minutes on each side 4 inches from flame. Baste with soy sauce during cooking. Serve without buns.
