POTATO TOPPED MEATLOAF

1 jar (12 oz.) Heinz home
style brown or mushroom
gravy
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 c. soft bread crumbs
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
2 1/2 c. hot mashed potatoes
1 Tbsp. melted butter or
margarine
paprika

Measure 1/4 cup gravy from jar and combine with beef and
bread crumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, salt and dash of
pepper. Form into a loaf (8 x 4 x 1/2-inch) shallow baking
pan. Bake in 350 degrees oven, one hour. Remove from oven and
carefully drain fat. Spread hot mashed potatoes over top and
sides of meatloaf. Drizzle melted butter over top of potatoes,
garnish with paprika. Return meatloaf to oven, bake an addi-
tional 20 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. Heat remaining gravy
and serve with meatloaf slices. Makes 6 servings.
