BRATWURST AND SAUERKRAUT IN BEER 6 bratwurst 1 medium onion, sliced 1/3 c. packed brown sugar 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 carrot, thinly sliced 1 can (27 oz.) sauerkraut 1 can (12 oz.) beer Cook bratwurst in 4 quart saucepan over medium-high heat until brown; drain. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over bratwurst in saucepan. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer until carrots are tender, about 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings. High altitude directions (3500 to 6500 feet): Increase simmering time to 35 to 45 minutes.
