HUNGARIAN PORK GOULASH 3 medium onions, chopped 2 Tbsp. shortening 1 1/2 to 2 lb. pork, cubed 1 1/2 tsp. sweet paprika salt 1/2 c. water 1/2 can tomato paste (optional) 2 raw potatoes, grated 1 lb. sauerkraut 1/2 pt. sour cream In heavy pan, cook onions until golden. Add pork; cook until light brown over medium heat. Add salt, paprika and water. Cook slowly, covered, for 30 minutes. Add potatoes and sauerkraut. Cover; cook slowly an additional hour. If it sticks, add a little water. Add sour cream and warm. Good the next day served with rye or pumpernickel bread.
