BEEF STEW 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 lb. beef stew meat (1-inch pieces) 2 Tbsp. shortening 6 c. hot water 3 medium potatoes (cubes) 4 carrots, sliced 1 green pepper, chopped 1 c. celery, chopped 1/2 c. chopped onions 1 Tbsp. salt 2 beef bouillon cubes Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Coat meat with this mixture. Melt shortening; brown meat. Add water; heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 2 hours. Stir in remaining ingredients. Simmer 30 minutes.
