CHRISTMAS FRUIT CAKE (BOILED) 1 lb. mixed fruit (1/2 currants and 1/2 raisins) 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. water 1/4 lb. margarine 1 tsp. baking soda Also may add cherries, lemon peel, nuts, etc. Boil all ingredients for 1/4 hour and allow to cool, about 1 hour or longer. When cold add: 2 eggs 2 c. self-rising flour flavor of choice (rum, almond or brandy) Stir well and put into a deep 8-inch pan. Bake for 2 hours at 325 degrees. Cool on wire tray, then wrap in foil and store in tin box.
